white man man

they closed the library yesterday because of the ice and snow. it might as well have been the apocalypse for me. school is pretty tuff. good thing there are pretty songs in the world. here's a new man man song from an up coming cd that's called rabbit habits and some freshly baked talent white hinterland. i'm pretty sure the little lead singer, casey dienel released a solo album that lots of people got excited about last year. their cd is called phylactery factory. white hinterland is going to be at sxsw. last year they got sidelined by a snow storm (kindred hearts!) and that is why i suspect they already not more well known. note: i had no intention of picking albums that both had rhyming names. there is something really traditional and jazz like about the piano which really makes hinterland for me. they really put the chords out there and use it enhance a contemporary melody, rather than using a piano to sort of "tone it down" and go "intimately acoustic".

apes and beef jerky

that is a picture from one of apes and androids shows. either hired or volunteer zombies. they also occasionally have cheerleaders and a traditional korean rhythm section at their shows. they sound like david bowie or queen with a mac book. nice guitar, nice tron. this song in particular even samples the chorus from the doors. (rider on the storm) it's weird, but it's professional

ciao matto's song is equally weird but as nice to listen to. the vocals sound like lovefoxxx from css with a few horns and down a few heroin injections. their name is italian for "crazy food," but they are japanese twins. oh supermarket samples of culture, oh postmodernity. how i do adore thee.

ok. if i get arrested. will someone bring me muffins? pumpkin ones with chocolate chips or carrot raisin spice ones? put a little knife in one too, will you?

anyway, one of the guy's from field music made his own solo effort called school of language. songs about words! and pretty clever ones at that. there is a background loop chorus of vowel sounds!

i don't know what to make of how i became the bomb. pop punk has a almost tolerable baby with the avalanches. i heard it once and i couldn't help but kind of like it. i might be embarassed i put this up later.
